Re: If that is the case then it was specified/configured by someone incompetent. Your job can't be that important if your MIS dept hasn't fixed such a regularly occurring problem

No Steve, Windows NT is just that unstable of an OS. It's not like I'm the only one that has my computer crash. I'm sure many others that read this thread have had their computers crash also. By your line of reasoning; Dell, Gateway, Compaq, HP, IBM, etc are all incompetent because they ship Windows based computers that crash once in a while.

Where's Dale J.?

Dale, you out there? I remember not too long ago on this thread you led a discussion about how the kick-ass new 8-way W2K Unisys server was going to be in the vanguard of the Intel Army of Darkness' next assault on Sun's lunch.

Guess it kicked the wrong ass (and a good trick that was).

I saw Unisys' written apology on CNBC. Even IBM could learn from the Director of Disappointment Excuses in the UIS marketing department. At the head of the list was one that said "Expected post-Y2K sales rebound didn't materialize!!" Another good one was "Customers putting off purchases due to uncertainty about slowdown in the economy!" I realize everyone has to be an advocate, but if you sink to those depths, why not just use a random number generator for your advocacy?

Dear Steve Lee: I would be careful attacking Chic. If you go back and read his posts here and on the INTC thread you will find he is one informed individual in this trade. JDN

How does one fix it? Windows is a closed, proprietary system. If you trace it back to the OS, and Microsoft doesn't issue a fix, you're done (unless you can somehow find a workaround on your own).

JMHO.
