To all: Well, if you didnt sell already you probably wont. So I suggest we await the quarter earnings report. If the SSB analyst is correct, then in my judgement the quality of leadership at CPQ leaves a lot to be desired. Considering their history this past year or two it would be a major stategic blunder to overfill the channel and lay themselves open for the same criticisms as the past. If the analyst is wrong stock ought to rebound at least to the 30ish level. JDN

Compaq (CPQ) 25 -3 1/2: -- Update -- Company issues a press release in response to Salomon Smith Barney report; says that it is comfortable with channel inventory levels, that the quarter is back-end loaded due to supply constraints, and that there has been no change to its price protection terms.
