Compaq Statement
PR Newswire - June 29, 2000 16:20

HOUSTON, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement from Compaq Computer Corporation (CPQ: NYSE) is in response to Solomon Smith Barney report dated June 29:

At this time, we are comfortable with channel inventory levels.

Compaq's channel inventory has been low and in some cases near stock-out levels. Q2 has been very back-end loaded due to supply constraints early in the quarter.

There have been no changes to standard price protection terms or any adjustments made in the normal course of business.
