**OT** OX - Thanks, I am runnig Win 98 and was considering NT but then they upgraded to Win 2000 and I have found a lot of problems with it. ( Just read Pat Slevin's nightmares on his thread ) It wasn't built with traders in mind apparently as many trading applications wont run on it. Maybe I can find an old copy of NT somewhere still. I don't know much about NT though and I hear it is picky about some things like file sharing, admin rights etc. I do have a network here with 3 hubs left open but I only have one of the machines. (My wife has the other and I have one slot reserved in case we ever get cable modem service to this area, like that will ever happen. <g>) Robert - Thanks. I am running a ATI All in wonder Pro Video card so it is pretty good already. If I build a new one, I will probably upgrade to a 32 Meg card and then a cheaper 16Meg or one like the one I have for the second monitor on the same machine. I hadn't heard of the dual head Matrox G400. That may be a better idea since then I won't have to run two cards and worry about driver conflicts, same brand matching etc. I will have to research that one. I don't think actual Memory has to do much with the resources though. I have read that the two are separate and is more a software thing. As for going to INTC chip. Ooooh, do I have to? <ggg> I have read many performance reviews that claim that AMDs are actually faster and I always like to support the under dog anyway <ggg> I wonder if I can just upgrade to a K7 chip and do the same thing? I do have a slow HD. This is a machine originally built a few years ago that just keeps getting upgrades, a new motherboard here, some RAM there, a new video card here etc. I didn't want to swap hard drives since all my chart data etc is on it but I guess I can swap that to my wifes machine then transfer it back after the change over the network. I have a 40G 7200 RPM Maxtor sitting on my desk unopened that I was going to use in the next machine I build and have a CD burned with my more important stuff on it as a back up in case of crashing. I think my biggest hog is the 4 X Quote.com screen I run during the day. I usually am not home to trade so I don't have these problems in my normal day to day stuff. Only when I take vacation time and can be more active. I need that screen to keep tabs on TICK, TRIN, futures and index of choice. I just started trying out the quote tracker so it may be a source of new problems but it seems to run pretty well so far. I may need to tweek it a bit and turn off some options to save resource use, caching etc. I appreciate all the feedback. Guess I will do some upgrading and then build the second unit and hook it into the LAN. I guess I wilorder some stuff and swap the hard drive this weekend. Thanks again and Good Luck, Lee
