FreeBSD includes what many consider the reference implementation for TCP/IP software, the 4.4 BSD TCP/IP protocol stack -- thereby making it ideal for network applications and the Internet.

I do not believe the same is true of Solaris, but you are free to prove me wrong. Bill Joy was already with Sun by 1982, if I'm not mistaken.

BTW, I have nothing against Solaris, I am rather fond of x86 Solaris. I'm not confident that work will continue in earnest on the implementation however, as I'm sure that Sun would prefer to sell its SPARC machines (i.e. work harder on the Sparc version and make sure that Solaris running on my $500 PC is less than perfect). :o)
