You're on SI sy. With micro brews I started out with Red Hook IPA, which was called Ballard Bitter back then, graduated to Red Hook ESB. One of the finest quaffs I have tasted. I dabbled in pale ales, scottish ales and have tried the belgian style, but they don't have the sweet/bitter flavor of the IPA's that I have come back to enjoy. In kirkland there is a place where you can brew your own. Northwest Brewwerks (sp). I brewed up a batch of my own IPA and that is what hooked me on the hoppy pleasures of the IPA's.

Wolavers is the closest I have found, on the market, to that batch. Strongly hoppy with a nice green edge, a bitter tang and a sweet after taste. It is not a beer for gulping. And in fact the tongue can be overwhelmed by it's noisy pallat if sipped too vigorously. A hot afternoon in the garden, a Wolavers and Dave Niehaus getting out the rye bread with grandma is about as good as it gets.

Cheers all and have a happy 4th of July weekend.
