Anyone got any info on CRZO, Carrizo oil and gas,
It's taken a hell of a hit the last few days, Don't own it but on this kind of pullback, depending on the situation it might be a buy.
Thanks and Take Care
Steve

Evolution re: the contest

- got the "Green Monster" working huh ?

People know what I said - I didn't disparage your contest; but I merely listed "antithesis" examples - micro cap companies which would go broke, or have exponential upside as an example of why "contests" that don't refelect what people actually own, or what the value of "trading" in volatile markets represents to real returns; that contests are won by selecting these companies that people wouldn't want to own in the real market etc...same as in a tech contest; CSCO, INTC, PMCS, or EMC won't win "contests" - some obscure micro cap will; but trading the CSCO INTC PMCS EMC's is what makes "real people - real money" - picking the "winners from the losers" on the stocks & companies that people are actually trading is what holds value - timing entries & exits in volatile subsectors with 30-50% moves is what makes people money etc...

I also said what would actually be of more value & more realistic is to have everyone pick 3 companies within the OSX index, or XOI, or XNG as picks and/or to divide the contest into 2-3 realistic catagories such as 1 B + mkt caps, or stocks under $10, between $10 & $20 , or over $20+ etc...

That you would chose to take the companies that I said would represent that type of contest mentality and use them as my "picks" in a contest that I never entered; is the epitiome of Chihuahuaism (VBG)... congrats - you are a newly AKC Champion titled SI-Chihuahua...

Whatever turns you on...

PS: Awfully - b-o-r-i-n-g lately...

Lots of straddling & Monday AM QBing on the return to the Koffee-Klatch mentality ...but, whats new ?

Anyone have any "guts" ? - C'Mon lets hear some market direction commentary, what's hot - what's not ? Where's the OSX,XOI or XNG going ? What's their trading range here - into Q2 reporting - what's the sector going to do during Q2 reporting - after ? When's the E&P game going to get the rug pulled out - ala~ Sept '99 ? - this Sept once again ? - Drillers the new hot spot (land vs. offshore)? Any shorts here yet ? Are we seeing the repeat of Oct '97 here & do we have further to the downside to go yet ? - if so; when does the pullback end & where to we go, when do we load, or are we still profit taking ? - Is this the "lull before the 2nd half" of Boom 2000-2001; is this merely the non-beliver mo-mo money exiting, or are we STILL ahead of ourselves via results vs. expectations ? Do we explode off of Q2 earnings ? or, will Q2 still show some disappointments and are we still highly overvalued on a multiple basis compared to prior OSX 115-120 levels ? What will it take to make a significant % move up in the OSX - to OSX 145-150+ ? Will expectations do it, or will it take actually earnings results similar to 97-98's peak & when will we see those numbers ? We are a long, long, long way away from the earnings numbers that supported the OSX at these levels during the last boom; will it take - 2 qtrs, 3 qtrs , 4,5 before the reporting numbers catch up to expectaions/valuations here ? Are we going to continually trade down as Institutions continually take profits out as the DOW enters a true potential Bear Market ? Can the OSX survive the multiple contractions that a rising rate environment brings ? Will the Fed kill and/or cap the Oilpatch Boom if they "must" continue raising rates ? - will it be Q1-2 2001 before OSX 120ish is fundamentally supported - and will we be range bound & whipsawed for 2-3 qtrs yet - untill actual reported earnings catch up to "expectations" and "really" support present valuations ? - could the Oilpatch actually be "dead money" - for a few months yet or, is "NOW" the last chance to board the Boom 2000-2001 train for say the Drillers; as dayrates are ramping to where this sector just explodes like the fall of '97, or the spring of '98 ? What's the major outperform subsector here ? Drillers (land, or shallow, or deepwater?), service (fab's , subsea const, mfg ?), E&P's ?

Fab's - will they be a no-show in "this" Boom ?, or merely later, than their ususal late cycle participation ?

Are the majors - EVER going to unleash significant new Cap Ex $ similar to 97-98 levels, or is THIS cycle going to be the debt reduction/consolidaton cycle - vs. the expansion & construction cycle of 97-98 ?

C'Mon people - take a freekin stand, make a call, lets hear some macro commentary ?

End this Pinocchioism - " I'm buying such & such on the dip; sure glad I sold it at "xxx" weeks/months ago..." - amazing - this is the only place where one can be max margined - but, yet simultaneously allways be buying the dips and isn't it incredible - how many people claim to be buying these dips, but yet we never heard them talking/posting about their selling (VBG).... don't know about the rest of you; but my chain is sure sore - from being pulled so often by "Q" & jim p - ROFLMAO ~

PS - jim p - at least SEI appears to be an original pick of yours for once; vs. stealing danwilson's picks from the Yahoo VPI thread ala ~ KWK (VBG)...

Ciao~

And how about more picks, or market commentary from our resident industry insiders like our own little Petroleum Proctologist - PZ himself ? - C'Mon PZ; reach down deep behind your back & pullout a good one...(VBG)- give us a pick...
