Not trying to douse the flames,

but here is an article on a paid site from Jim Seymour.

thestreet.com

"...3Com has turned itself into a basket case over the past three years, and what lies behind this quarterly earnings report and related announcements confirms that. I hate to sound like Herbie, but this is a sick company getting sicker, not better. And it's relying on revenue far outside its mainstream businesses to prop up the balance sheet and earnings reports..."

Yes mark, I agree with you that there is no reason the coms/palm combo will not get back to $120 together - after distribution. The fundamentals of Palm rigtht now is four times better than pre-ipo. The reasons I say this:

1. we have already gone thro' two qtr reports since IPO and they were both spectacular to say the least.

2. Revenue projection is triple that of pre-ipo.

3. Revenue and earnings visibilities are very good whereas pre-ipo it was blurry

4. Visibilities of the Licensing and Palm.net are also coming into clear focus - pre-ipo they didn't even dare to talk about them

5. Sony as the licensee - didn't have that pre-ipo

6. The four-prong approach - devices, servers, licenses, Palm.net - are comeing into shape - pre-ipo this was not clearly defined.

7. 80,000+ developers, hundreds of web-clipping sites, wireless kit for all Palms, beating wince .......... all non-existed pre-ipo

8 smart product differentiation and Palm OS upgrades

I think Palm is worth $111 based on a psr of 30 and revenue of 2 billions.
