Opalapril,

"What nonsense. TSC, as usual, misleading, misinforming, missing the boat."

You can say that about a lot of writers, but Jim Seymour is pretty good. After reading the entire story, the summary of the article is that 3Com is flopping around the beach like a dead fish. What is its core business? What is an investor buying with 3Com? Are investors hoping that 3Com will be successful in its ventures? Why not invest (after the spinoff) in a company whose product line is a known quantity?

I've read all of the news reports on 3Com, and their focus. I'm not positive on what industries they will be successful in (I know DSL & Bluetooth are focus points). Jim makes good points, and until we can see 3Com produce earnings/revenues based on products - and not one-time investment gains - then the outcome is not certain.

My money is on 3Com, but I respect Jim greatly.
