First, I thought I had an idea that would help the unreachable threads become reachable again. I used the old site to edit the header of the MDD thread. It took a few times, but I finally got the edit to take. And the old site shows the revised header. However, the new site doesn't show the revisions and the subject is still unavailable.

There seems to be a complete disconnect between the old site (which I have to use all the time to do admin functions) and the new site. Not good.

The answers to your questions:

1. Beats me. I can only speculate that they wanted to do it while it was getting a decent-sized load so it could immediately be stress-tested. I'll be reminding Engineering on Monday that I can stress-test it all by myself. I've got my line and a friend's work T1 and home cablemodem available to me via Terminal Services Client (cool stuff!) and can quickly write scripts to give them all the traffic they want to see before putting anything into production.

2. Don't know.

3. I would expect that they're swamped (like me) and feel that their time is better spent addressing the issues that're brought up. If I were in that position, that's what I'd be doing. Fix now and reply later.

4. I'm noting the same thing.

5. I don't know.
