It seems unlikely.

NBIX has been on the preliminary list for addition to the R2000 from the beginning (see the current version at russell.com ). NBIX has a market cap of near $800 million, so there’s no reason for anyone to think NBIX might not make the final cut – the threshold is much lower, somewhere in the $200-$250M range, I believe.

Whatever caused the dramatic gyration in NBIX, it at least wasn’t a rational reaction to anything to do with R2000. More likely, I’d guess, that some large holder took the opportunity to lighten up or get out during the surge, and panicked some other folks into selling.
