Rudedog, thanks. I missed that altogether. Having said that, and given that MC has 2 years left in his employment contract, I would venture to say that a strategy job might be more attractive for him, vs. a marketing job, so that he can help pave the growth prospects for the Company and possibly rise to succession as a visionary and leader taking the company to the next step with a refined internet strategy. I also recall MC mentioning that Jesse G. was going to be working on strategy issues as well due to his experience in the field.

I personally think the overall strategy is sound but would like to hear more about business unit strategy specifics in order to understand how Compaq can beat Sun, HP, IBM, and others to the punch by having its organization ticking along clearly on a tune that rewards speed, efficiency, and execution. Note I am not implying it is not, but that message is not clear to me.

In this world, it pays to never rule anything out.
