I always liked Mr. Mathau and will strive in the future to model my curmudgeonly side after him. I had the pleasure of having a morning dring with him in 1998 (sorta) at Marina Del Rey on a beautiful Sunday morning. I was by myself (business trip) and decided to treat myself to a nice breakfast. I was having a bloody mary while waiting for a table for one when Mr. M walked in, walked up to the bar, and with only a "hello" to the bar tender, had a bloody mary served. He was a fine looking curmudgeon, recognizable in even the largest crowd.
