Schwab Contends With Web Glitch

Charles Schwab Corp., San Francisco, said the functions of its online investing Web site were hurt by a computer glitch Friday. The glitch was noticed around 1:45 p.m. EDT and caused Schwab to switch to a backup computer system, said a spokesman for the online and discount brokerage firm. This, he said, has hurt the Web site's ability to provide up-to-the-minute information on customers' balances and investments. Clients have been able to place trades, he said.
