Re: "And again, what has happened to those SMP Athlon
systemns that were running in the AMD labs
as we were told by management? "

You have finally made a good point !!!

These SMP systems were running in AMD's labs 11 months ago, acording to Drew Prairie.

Ali I surmise AMD was making sure the SMP systems are ROCK solid, as you cannot afford to slip up in this arena!

Hello Ali,

Re: "I remember that. But I do not remember massive
business accounts. The platform was probably not enough
"solid" to get into business accounts.."

How much more solid than "100% solid" can a platform get? It seems to me there are "mindset" and "reliable supplier" reasons for failure to capture business accounts to date. The "mindset" thing is a Ford-Chevy sort of thing which is based on very little substance. AMD as a "reliable supplier" for the past year has been proven, an another supplier of CPU's has taken the place vacated by AMD. Just look at the Gateway usage and expansion plans to 50/50. Perhaps Gateway's usage expansion plans are in the business area (I hope).

Like you and most others on this thread I await the capture of "massive" business accounts. AMD's products are price/performance most-bang-for-the-buck leaders, I know of no business where that's not important.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
