Long after everyone has forgotten about Elian, the government will quietly settle out of court for millions of dollars with the relatives.

They better not give them a dime of my tax money!

With regard to the Supreme Court, I wasn't talking about the INS tactics in taking Elian from the relatives. That's a peripheral issue because it had no bearing on where Elian lives. I was talking about the INS determination that JM is the only one who can apply for asylum on behalf of the child. The courts reviewed that and determined that the INS followed the law. Are you saying they were wrong, bought, stupid, commie-lovers, what?

We would notice such a ridiculous thing here, and the call would go out for tort reform ... again ... They have no case ... when the INS says hand over an alien, the law of your land says you better hand him over ... punto.

Not something i applaud in all cases, btw, that extreme martial power ... but in this case they stood up for what was just ... the father over the great-uncle, pretty simple really.
