Tabler, it's not dollars per minute! It's about one dollar a minute in most markets. It was not many years ago that we were all paying a dollar a minute for long distance from our land line phones. Paying a dollar a minute for calls from the middle of nowhere, where no other service is available (cellular or not) sounds pretty good to me.

You keep comparing dollar a minute to pennies a minute. This is false and misleading. G* phones use existing cellular service, where it exists, and you pay pennies when that happens. The dollar a minute comes into play when there is no other cellular available. I am sure you know all this but you choose to ignore it.
