shamsaee: Brilliant. Well, perhaps a bit over exuberant. But it seems to me that you are on to something.

There really is no future for mobile wireless (especially data) other than CDMA.

And who is the spider in the center of the CDMA (incl. HDR) web - the Q.

So what is the choice others have?

There used to be an ad with a grizzled mechanic who sold fuel filters whose line was, you can pay me now or you can pay me later.

That should be the ad for Qualcomm.

Best.

"They can always refuse to sign at 10% which in return qcom can request that they remove all qcom IP from WCDMA."

Who exactly holds the patent rights to WCDMA? I ask because it is my understanding that the U.S. patent office takes a dim view of making insignificant changes to a patent protected item and then claiming it's different enough to require another patent. So if WCDMA is really different enough for the GSM crowd not to pay a royalty to the Q it should also be different enough for one of them to own.
