Based on my experience the "leftanglebracket" p "rightanglebracket", etc. junk appears when you edit a post after doing a preview. Also, when I posted my message and it came up, the time left to edit was 14 minutes, not 15 (maybe the clock starts ticking when you preview?).

And a new one that I'm encountering in making this post. In the "reply to" caption I see "Reply to Subject #-1". And instead of the text of the message I'm responding to, I see this in the "Responding to" box:

"Subject: , started by at Jul 2, 2000 5:56 PM "

(Quotation marks in the above snippets were added by me).

Also, as I go to post, I see there's no preview option. Let's hope for the best as I try to post this.

Further note in my real time bug reporting. It didn't work. I got an "error writing to database" when I tried to post the above. Fortunately I had saved it to the clipboard. I was trying to post using the "respond" link inside the post where it was listed as part of the "next 10" list. After this failed, I linked into the individual post and used the "post reply" button. Now everything looks okay, and I assume this post will go through.

left angle p right angle is code for paragraph . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (this is an example of a line wrap. continuous input of characters without inserting <enter> to cause a line break)

The <p> is code for paragraph. The person typed the first line and at the end hit <enter> twice:

<enter><enter>, starting a new paragraph. However, only the code shows, paragraph spacing is lost because the program is only printing the code not executing it, showing a line break as typed, but swallowing up or discarding the second <enter> since it does not see that.

The <br> is code for break, i.e., line break. Instead of hitting <enter> twice, the person just did one <enter> and started a new line. In this case, the line break does occur, but it is just because it is printing out what was typed in.

Messages without those symbols at the end were with the first line wrapped into the second (no <enter> at the end of the line)

The angle brackets with commands should not show. This is the result of one of the programming errors from SI's site update on 6/29. It might be that these characters are used in the program that is all messed up. With the spel chek program disabled, messages post, but any <p> and <br> at the end of the first line show on the message board list.

We are back to the old WYSIWYG, sort of. And they are still cheating us out of 1 minute of editing time.

If you look at your message, the first line has the italic code showing (left angle bracket i right angle bracket, but the <p> <br> show up as <p... The program is not recognizing the italic code in the first line, but is converting the <p>, etc into it's code. Complicated, hope I have not confused anyone. Also, if I have made errors in this explanation, I would appreciate clarification.

Thanks, Merry
