Re: I like to see contrary opinions on these threads but you seem to think the company is desperate & going down the tubes...

Catcher, thanks for your reasoned reply.

If rambus pulls off the blackmail, it'll be worth about what it's selling for now - but I would expect the stock price to triple or better. That news would just sound so good.

So I would expect Rambus to triple or better from current levels if they can convince Micron and Samsung that litigation is more trouble than it's worth. But both of those companies have indicated, for the time being at least, that this is not going to happen.

For the record, as I have posted before, I have a small position in RMBS puts. But in consideration of the possible outcome I listed above, I'm not putting too many eggs in that particular basket.

I would strongly suggest if you are long Rambus you also keep at least a small part of your portfolio diversified into other investments - just in case Micron and Samsung do continue to hang tight.

I don't think Rambus, as a company, can go down the tubes - they have very few expenses. But, like many other tech stocks, their current valuation is pretty high. Just to put it into perspective, they presently have nearly one third the valuation of General motors on quarterly sales of $16 million dollars and earnings from operations of about $5 million. GM earned 1.75 Billion on sales of 48 Billion last quarter. I know rambus isn't alone in this different valuation, but they are one of the more extreme cases.

So I post my opinions and conclusions and look to see if anyone can help me out by showing me where I'm mistaken. When I get posts like ...are you just stupid ? I only ask because I've watched loose your a@s 3 times in a row shorting and I wonder if your doing it again now

I become motivated to present my conclusions even more thoroughly (who wouldn't?)
