Re: JDSU

Good article called "JDS Uniphase Merger with E-Tek Closes" from
EE Times here:

eetimes.com

The merger between JDS Uniphase and E-Tek Dynamics Inc. closed Friday (June 30), capping the largest deal to date in the optical components market.

RE: tekboy/Ares@plus,heoftenwearsacodpieceandamerkin.com

The most dates I ever had a chance of having was during a production of Gounod's Faust in 1989. I was given an excellent wig, goatee, tights and a cod piece large enough to draw the antention of 70 chorus members when I jumped up on a cask of wine and sang my little song.

My future wife was a member of that chorus and quickly defended her territory informing all members of the chorus (male and female) that what they were seeing was not the 'real' me. <ggg>

We arrived safely in San Francisco last night and it's good to be back on 'home soil' for a couple of months.

All the best to each and every one of you as we celebrate the 4th. I did my part by spending 4 hours in London yesterday reminding all I encountered. <ggg>

Tek,

<< re: NTAP: gorilla ... not really >>

Good links to BB's Fool musings, especially as they relate to Brocade.

There is not a lot of detail provided to make the case that NTAP is a gorilla, but I am certainly not ruling it out, and I am sure that DS will continue to develop that case. I would certainly like to see a case advanced for JDSU as well, but I myself lack sufficient knowledge of that industry to do so.

This quote of BB's (and other references to the Cisco case) are important, IMO:

"study of the router game which Cisco won with their IOS becoming the de facto standard would be the best comparitive analysis to date."
