You may prove to be right however stocks do violate bollinger bands on the upside and on the downside on an irregular basis as they become extremely overbought or oversold. QCOM has done this both ways with the results being entirely predictable. Other recent examples would be HLIT which violated the lower bollinger band after the company admitted to its inability to satisfy earnings estimates. Today IFMX is doing the same thing.

QCOM has managed to stay clear for a while but it has bounced off the lower bollinger band higher 4 times since it hit 200. I think it will do it again but the company needs to stay clear of any more earnings disappointments for a sustainable uptrend to start again.
