What I think happens is that an institutional holder of the stock that has enough shares to impact the movement of the stock, starts to sell a few weeks before the quarter ends and take profits. The institution does it just enough to freak out the retail customer and cause them to sell, gets the stock down just below its 50 DMA but above its 200. On their books for the quarter they show a nice profit.

Then they buy back in at the beginning of the new quarter and start the whole process all over again. The same thing happened this quarter with my KEM and VSH shares....it stinks. You never know for sure whether the stock is in trouble or not.
