Would you provide more detail on this? I'm not disputing what you say, just looking for more information--

I could believe (given Gateway's issue) that the 750 may be at its limit at 1G, at least in conjunction with the socketed chips, due to their tighter timing demands.

But I'd heard the Asus (granted they are quality maker) KT133 was rock solid. Are there indications of KT133 mobo difficulties at higher speeds?
