It looks less than ideal, but not bad. As you point out, there are 3 vendors listed at 1000 MHz, and as for Asus, I'm not worried given what I've read on Tom's, et. al. So that makes (an informal) 4.

Yes, the constant tardiness of VIA-based products is incredibly annoying. I can't wait for the 760 chipset.

I think we have just gotten accustomed to motherboard availability holding back Athlons.

Gotta get to 760...and then wait a few more months for some motherboards to become available from a couple of companies...and then wait a few more months for the full ramp and more companies to sell the boards...

AMD is the reason AMD hasn't landed Dell yet.
