Looks like we're in agreement here. What a coincidence. Our mangos are kin.

ATAULFO MANGO

Indonesian type - originated from a Hawaiian seedling strain, direct descendant of the Manila mango seedling race common in Veracruz State, Mexico. - The fruit is a small, flat, oblong shape, 6 - 12 ounces, greenish yellow to deep golden when ripe; delicious, very sweet, rich in flavor and close to fiber free. (butter!)

What's a Manila Mango? Not many mangos grow in Manila. Not much of anything grows in Manila, actually. There's a good deal of good-natured debate over which of the many mango-producing areas in the Philippines produces the best fruit. I live at the south end of one of the contending regions, and when the season strikes we are awash with them; I could buy them in the market for 45 cents a kilo if it wasn't easier to pick them from the tree beside the house.

Opus Dei is a major presence here, bunch of real sickos if you ask me. Some very interesting articles published recently on the manner in which the training on Opus Dei novices instills obedience to authority. Of course they only recruit among the elite, and they have many of their people in the top ranks of government.

So in honor of the Opus Dei, the following extract from Tom Lehrer's "The Vatican Rag":

Get in line in that processional
step into that small confessional
there the guy who's got religion'll
tell you if your sin's original
if it is try playin' it safer
drink the wine and chew the wafer
2 - 4 - 6 - 8
time to transsubstantiate

So get down upon your knees
fiddle with your rosaries
bow your head with great respect, and
genuflect, genuflect, genuflect

Make a cross on your abdomen
when in Rome do like a Roman
ave Maria
gee, it's good to see ya
gettin' ecstatic and
sort of dramatic and
doin' the Vatican rag
