Don,

I take Klonopin every single night. I'm up to 1.5 mg now and I'm used to it. Under normal circumstances, it does the job. But it is also addictive after a while. And I use Ambien and Sonata too as needed. And there are after-effects of Klonopin. It does interfere with short-term memory and it has a long half-life.

I'm not particularly afraid of the benzodiazepenes; they serve a purpose. They are simply addictive, but relatively harmless in small dosages. I have to take it as a result of too many headaches and it works better than anything else for routine use. But for short term solutions, Ambien is my preference. If I travel a lot, I use it ruthlessly. I just took a trip around the World - literally - in 11 days and I used Ambien or Sonata about half the days.

I just want something with fewer side effects. Of course, one of the good side effects of Klonopin is that it helps control headaches. Try having them all the time.

Thanks, Torben
