I'm confused. Exactly what does all this cookie paranoia buy you?

A cookie is simply a small file that remembers something for a web site. Once saved it is inert until the next time that you visit that site. At that time, the site can choose to ask your browser to see if it has any cookies stored **for that site**.

If it has then the site can actually speed up its response to you.

Why is this a bad thing?
