To all, Not really relevant to anything: A few weeks back Skeets and I had a discussion about which athletes are in the best condition and I mentioned biathlon athletes as candidates. Well, the day before yesterday, there was a story about an Olympic biathlon candidate from Canada who was training for her sport and was running in the woods when a black bear grabbed her and pretty much had lunch al fresco.

This is horrible, but she was just running, not cross country skiing (which is tough to do without snow) and definitely not shooting a rifle. It is doubtful that the little .22 rifle would do much to deter a hungry black bear, but I'd rather have it with me than not. Who knows? Biathlon athletes are great marksmen under pressure and if she could get one in the eyeball of the bear, she might have survived.

Anyway, I thought that story was bizarre and for some reason, felt the need to share it.
