Intraware Partners With New Venture From Compaq and CMGI - Freeup - to Provide Exclusive Software Management Services

ORINDA, Calif., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Intraware (Nasdaq: ITRA), the leading IT e-marketplace for web-based software and services, today announced an agreement to provide IT-focused content and Internet-based services for Freeup LLC, a new business-to-employee (B2E) Web destination formed between Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) and CMGI (Nasdaq: CMGI). Freeup is part of Compaq's corporate vision to take "Everything to the Internet" and will provide a complete set of resources on the Internet for a range of vertical employee groups. Intraware joins other selected Internet leaders as initial partners with Freeup, including Microsoft, Intel, CommerceOne, CNET and DigitalThink. Intraware will be the exclusive provider of Internet based services to procure, deploy and maintain business software. Additionally, Intraware will be responsible for providing Internet-based content and other online services designed to reduce the complexity of IT management throughout the enterprise. Freeup will offer the bulk of Intraware's Internet-based services, which are geared toward providing IT professionals with end-to-end solutions for managing the complete software life cycle. The Intraware services offered by Freeup will include:
-- Internet-Based Software Procurement -- Intraware will be the exclusive provider of online software procurement services on the Freeup site. Intraware will offer its online catalog that provides personalized pricing of business software, as well as services for software management, and consulting and hosting. -- Internet-Based Software Delivery -- Intraware will be the exclusive provider of electronic software delivery (ESD) services to the Freeup site. This service will include a customized extranet for all Freeup customers utilizing the procurement service, and will provide online tools to enable Freeup customers to cost-effectively manage their software licenses. -- Internet-Based Software Deployment -- Intraware will be the exclusive provider of software deployment and management services to the Freeup site through a co-branded version of Intraware Deployment.
