I agree. If the thread moderator feels that threatened by other's viewpoints, he should start another thread where he can selectively allow posts which agree only with his view.

I will not post on a thread where there is no freedom to disagree.

Karin: RE:< uncensored free speach brinker thread ? >

First, it's "SPEECH" not "speach".

Second, why do you have a need to even use this SI thread when you already use the other SI Thread you linked. Of course the other thread has been dead since Truman Bradley took leave in September 1998. Are you obsessed with dead threads ? And, you also use Kirk's thread - that's two threads?

Third, WHY SHOULDN'T people who share a viewpoint be able to gather and exchange views free from SPAM if they so desire ? My upbringing taught me NOT TO INTERJECT MYSELF where others held different views and beliefs - TO RESPECT THE BELIEFS OF OTHERS. I was taught it would be rude and disrespectgful to do otherwise. Does "Freedom of Speech" give one the right to but into any gathering (even say a religious gathering) and debate (ie. the paster, rabbi etc.). Perhaps you and those who share your views may want to re-examine the concept of "Freedom of Speech" and "respect". I know it will be a challenging task in the current environment where some so called leaders in this country sadly seem to be struggling with the meaning of "is".

This is my last post on this thread.

Best wishes to all who choose to remain to pick the bones.

Karin,

One very nice thing about SI is that anyone can start a thread if they disagree with the policies or tone of an existing thread. The readers and posters decide which will be successful and which ones won't be. Free speech on SI is guaranteed through this mechanism.

Justa has moderated his thread since its inception; this is not new. He has done this through private messages, public messages and a bit of humor. And he has done an excellent job of keeping the posts constructive. The audience instantly moved from the other Brinker thread to his when it was created and will again. I am confident that he will moderate his new thread with the same restraint and professionalism.

But in the spirit of SI, you are welcome to start a new thread, one that doesn't leverage Justa and Lars good name. Perhaps you could call it "Why we want to force Bob Brinker off the air and deprive millions of people of a financial education." I would seriously read such a thread because I absolutely fail to understand the motivation of the group of people who are excessively critical of Brinker and continuously challenge him through the theft of his intellectual property.
