Rick, responding to your comment:
"Not suggesting any such thing, and for the record I am more than 80% QCOM, but it appears as if our estimates for this year have been a bit on the optimistic side to say the least. With HDR and the roll out of G3 not until next year, the possibility of some radical change in 2000 doesn't seem promising."
Rick

I too am very very long Q* and have been examining the prospects......but the truth is, we have not overestimated this company. I believe the majority of us have underestimated how the "competition" views Q*. They definitely are 'piling on' as one commentator put it. They realize how big Q* will be just on the CDMA royalties regardless of which flavor. They will do just about, no, not just about, but *anything* to limit the reach of Q* into 'their' territories, including what we see now as the biggest push of FUD in my memory. We shall see, but remember, just because we are pushed out 6 mos or 18 mos, over the lifetime of this company we are going to question how we could have been so restricted as to not see the very very obvious facts:
excellent management
excellent product
gorilla lock on IPR
best ASIC for that IPR
best R&D for improving that technology
substantial installed base from which to work their market penetration schemes
NO DEBT
Guaranteed Income Stream

So, please find me another equity with these prospects, I would be much obliged.....
Regards,
Martin Thomas

< think it safe to say that his assumptions were way off. We are currently looking at $1.07 estimates for the year.
With a 65% growth from last year and a PEG of 1, that would put us at $69 a share...about where we are. If we go
out to 2001 earnings estimates, we have a estimated 30% growth rate to $1.63 a share...giving Q a premium PE of
50, that would put us around $100 a share based on 2001 earnings.>

How did you get 1.63 for 2001 on 30% growth from 1.07.I posted this the other day but nobody responded.PW has decreased their estimates for the year to 1.02 and 1.25 from 1.45 for 9/2001.

Rick, any fears of weakness in the worldwide adoption of CDMA technology, and the royalty payments to QUALCOMM that go with any expansion, are grossly exaggerated. I've been following the discussions on this and related threads for quite some time. People are making a mountain out of a mole hill. QCOM has the patents on the lowest cost technology. The rest is icing on the cake. But if you're still worried about having 80% in QCOM, you might want to take a look at SNDK, particularly on the news today (which is not entirely unrelated to the fortunes of QCOM).
