Mani, Re: New Thread, Good Idea

Good idea to start a moderated thread. Hold to your rules. Encourage a summary line as a header in each post. The most distressing aspect of the old thread is the namecalling and personal attacks. I've held AMD for nearly 3 years, don't post much as I don't have much to add. I have learned a lot about semiconductor technology by reading the thread, but it's been painful to wade through all the garbage to extract the nuggets. I read some Yahoo threads that are better than the old AMD thread.

Periodically I have contact with executive management, which is why I've held through the dark times. My understanding is that we have a strong earnings report coming, and that a sustained stock price above 100 will lead to a 2:1 split later in the year. I think AMD is hitting on all cylinders and is positioned for sustained success...at long last.

All the best to us here and in COHU. JBK

Mani, Re: Summary of post on first line.

Since the thread is fairly young, and many are still posting on both threads, please consider asking all who post on this thread to summarize their posts, or at least provide a topic header in the first line to make it simpler to read the thread and pick out the items of interest. Many threads insist on something similar and it's not burdensome.

If this thread to continues on the path of being the same as the other thread only without the disparaging remarks, that's a big improvement. If it can become a thread that minimizes wasted bandwidth, with post headers to make it easy to find the info of interest, that's even better. I want to know if someone is discussing underlying technology (science or design), comparative performance, TA, FA, or other broad categories. The discussion on the bond call and AMD's outstanding debt is a good example of how focused the information exchange can be.

The new thread is better than the old one. I think there are a number of us who might have valuable info who'd be more inclined to post if this thread was viewed as more of a focused information exchange, less of a personal opinion exchange, especially since the old thread still gets lots of posts exchanging personal opinions. All the best...JBK
