I think the comparisons are interesting but I think they mainly serve to frustrate us. Stocks like AMCC or VTSS will, for the forseeable future, have higher P/E's because of the kind of chip they produce and/or the industry it serves. For an example VTSS produces a gallium arsenide chip that is faster (although more expensive) than silicon and is used a lot in the telecom industry.

And as for Intel, they are chipzilla, numero uno, the godfather etc....and priced accordingly.

Having said all that, AMD deserves to go higher....lets hope that it happens.
