To: survivin who wrote (119342 ) 7/5/2000 6:01:50 PM From: tejek Respond to of 1579125 Some of the details ____________________________________________________________ Intel, Via Technologies Settle Patent and Contract Dispute Santa Clara, California, July 5 (Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp. and Via Technologies Inc. said they've settled a breach-of contract dispute stemming from a 1998 cross-licensing agreement for computer chipsets. Under the settlement, Via Technologies will pay Intel an undisclosed amount of money in addition to continuing royalty fees, the companies said. The settlement will also result in dismissal of patent infringement suits filed in the United Kingdom, Singapore and in the United States, they said. Santa Clara, California-based Intel, the world's largest computer chipmaker, had accused Via Technologies of breaching a contract to make and design P6 chipsets, or components on a computer's main printed circuit board that manage the flow of information. Taiwan-based Via Technologies is the world's second- largest maker of computer chipsets. Intel shares fell 5 1/4 to 131 5/8 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
