The terms are not known so it is tough to make anything out of this one other than to say that this sounds like a good deal for Intel. Getting lumpsum and royalties for current generation is nice and looks like Intel will retain full ownership of the Wilamette chipset market.

Lack of any mention of P4 may be a good sign for AMD but we need to get more details to understand if this deal in anyway increases or decreases VIA's motivation to support AMD.
