I wonder if VIA could develop a DDR or SDRAM chipset for Willy before Intel...or if Intel would let them...

I think deal with Via would be a good hedge. Afterall, all of the profits come from the microprocessor division, and the worst thing that could happen would be lost sales due to lack of competitive chipsets to support the microprocessors.

Intel may be at a point where a decision had to be made as to what is a higher priority: efforts to corner the market, or just sell enough microprocessors to support good earnings.
