Christopher, Re:<I watched CA fall. Now, the question: is it a fallen angel, or a falling knife? Since you bought, you obviously think the former. Are you willing to share your basis for that?>

I hope it's not a falling knife. I've grabbed several of them in my time. Have a look at the 5 year chart, then the 15 year one. 5 year looks like a saw blade. Steady accent with periodic drops. I hope we're not getting into October '87 - June '90 kind of price action.

Some companies manage earnings to smooth the chart. CA doesn't seem to.

Companies announce earnings at the ends of quarters. (Regular as clockwork.) Investors get nervous at ends of quarters. (Regular as clockwork.) Ends of quarters are when I do a lot of buying. Middle of quarters are when I do a lot of selling.

Companies buy major software at the ends of quarters. That's the way CA(and the analysts) say it works.(I'm in the software development biz, not sales, marketing, etc. I'm really kind of dumb in that area.)

CA was most likely over priced 7 months ago. This kind of stuff happens. If I had owened CA then I doubt that I'd have been smart enough to sell it.

As a result of this investment I expect to be looking at CA much more closely in the next couple of days. I think I'll keep it, I've sold 3 stocks this year the day after I bought them 'cause the story didn't work.

You might want to consider that in the last 10 days I have also bought -QELHG(AMKR Aug 35 calls) and -AFQAA(IFMX Jan 5 calls).(Selling AMD to raise the cash in both cases.) I expect to hold the calls to expiration.

That is the kind of investing I normally do. It just seemed to me that the stock looked better in this case than the calls(or puts).

In general, I don't like the FEDs May action, but *THINK* they have figured out that they blew it, I don't like OPECs actions of the last year but *THINK* the Saudis are heading in the right direction, and I *THINK* that the stock market, more specifically electronics and software, is a good place to have money invested, at least for the near(6 months or so) term.

Disclosure -- in $ terms I still hold much more AMD than anything else. My investment in CA is small(200 shares). I've been losing money on my medical stock investments for 1/2 a year, & I think I might soon buy some copper stocks.

good luck to all,
