LOL, sooner than we know it they'll really be posting people's home address;

Dear Silicon Investor Members,

I am writing in regard to a concern that several of you have expressed with respect to the posting of Usernames in place of Aliases on publicly posted messages. We are very concerned about this problem as well.

As many of you know, we recently launched a new SI database infrastructure, which has clearly not gone as smoothly as anticipated. We have been dealing with a number of issues, the most serious of which was the display of certain Usernames instead of Aliases on publicly posted messages.

In short, the problem occurred on two occasions: once last Thursday evening (June 29) and the second time last night (July 4). On both occasions, we had developers on site who addressed and corrected the problem as quickly as possible. At this point, we have identified and fixed the root cause of this problem to ensure that it will not occur again, and we have implemented additional procedures to prevent any similar problems.

We have always considered customer privacy to be of the highest concern, and we sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience we may have caused. I also want to ensure you that no other private information in your customer record (i.e. password, credit card info, address, etc.) was at risk at any time.

We will be communicating additional information about the database rollover in the near future. Again, we apologize and thank you for your patience.

Regards,
