Hey Dan3 do you know what today is. It is July 5,2000.
The date of VIA unequivocal committment to DDR is April 10, which is over 3 months ago and before this deal was made.
Lets keep our facts honest and story straight. thank you.

As usual, Dan3 "overlooks" an important aspect of the press release:

Dan3's "spin" is "Intel gives go ahead to VIA on DDR chipset for Pentium III!"

Dan3's quote is:

"Intel Corporation and Via Technologies, Inc. today jointly announced that the companies have reached settlement of pending litigation related to a cross license between the two companies.... Via is licensed under Intel patents to produce P5 and P6 chipsets"

Actual language of press release (Dan3's omissions capitalized):

"Intel Corporation and Via Technologies, Inc. today jointly announced that the companies have reached settlement of pending litigation related to a cross license between the two companies.... UNDER THE MODIFIED AGREEMENT, Via is licensed under Intel patents to produce CERTAIN P5 and P6 chipsets."

Draw your own inferences.

Dan3... I think the other posters here have answered your post sufficiently. No need for me to chime in. But thanks for the SPIN attempt. Always good for people to be kept on their toes.
