David when you talk about being short here, is it the indexes, the soxx index or a particular stock(s);
and, when you short do you use a max pain or actually short via poots ?

Re: Agreed, but if take you're short off you're risking missing a substantial downside move... IMO the play is keep the pedal to the metal, if we move down quickly, those that don't stay short may start worrying about getting 'whipped' and trade themselves out of a good idea. There are going to be some monster gaps, Just my opinion. We clearly differ, that's O.K.

David,

I think we share the same opinion, but on a different time frame.

You don't think the SOX will gap up in the AM? I'm betting it does and went long. This doesn't mean I don't think it's due for a good beating. I saw a trading opp and went long, it's just an overnight play.

I think it is that easy.... about a few times a month only and you have to be on top of your game and react quickly. I don't think people can do it day in and day out consistently (although I'm sure some can). If you pick you're spots well, you can make some big short term gains. We'll see how good my guess is for the SOX tomorrow. I got in long at the end of the day and am up due to the late day rally. I'm expecting Niles and co. to come to the rescue tomorrow and I'll exit. I've identified 5 other trading opportunities (some short, some long) for July and will maybe follow through on 2 or 3. Let's see how my guess is for tomorrow and I'll post the rest when the time comes.

I just can't see the SOX being negative the first few hours of trading. At 9:30 AM we're going to see Maria live from the floor with comments of "great buys" by Niles and of course her constant talk of "Dee-RAM". I'll bail for a good profit early, depending on how hard Niles and the other ANALysts are pumping the SOX...
