I actually think the real reason for the crash in Oracle stock last year was more strategy related than hitting or missing one qtr. Last year the role of software wrt the internet technologies was unclear. It almost seemed like all software would decline and a new set of web companies would take their place... similar to the shift we had in the early 90s with client/server replacing mainframes.

Anyway what really happened is that those software companies that adapted (which often meant network architecture, transaction management, etc) have thrived and exploded to the upside thanks to the internet and another bunch died. Oracle was in the former camp. So, my point is that even if Oracle actually missed a qtr (which I doubt very seriously but anyway) - the stock would never decline like it did last year, because Oracles future is not in doubt currently... there is no looming paradigm shift that I know of ready to put Oracle out of business.

ex. 1998 software gained from internet: ORCL, ITWO, SEBL, BEAS vs. companies damaged: PSFT, SAP

But they were all beaten down at about the same time last year.

It sounds like you don't know much about ORCL. That's ok. Hang around here for sometime for there're are quite many informative/insightful guys on board. You'll become born-again, imho.

While Sap, ifmx, CA and a few more are struggling for last qr(May/or Jun ending qr), look at ORCL's beautiful #s. Guess who is eating their lunch, dinner, breakfast and inbtn? ORCL!!! ORCL even had to guide analysts to double EPS estimate for q4. And we topped another $.05~$.06. Rest my case.

Good night to all!
