No, I wudda told ya. I hope Geo's well enough for me to enjoy Elvin Bishop tomorrow. If he isn't well I won't
go. No sense sitting there crying. I realize he's 16
and he's had a good full life, I thought I prepared
myself but I'm still not handling this too well.

This time I did. Steve Forbert warmed up.
He was good. He did a handful of good originals
and some really good covers including 19th Nervous
Breakdown. He played acoustic with an electric
bassist. Shawn Colvin was solo acoustic. She was
better than I expected. The longer she played the
more I got into it. Her voice is great, her guitar
playing's pretty good, her compositions are very
good with the lots of little tasty hooks. She did
a lot of talking inbetween songs. She talked about
warming up for Sting recently and playing US Blues
in Roslyn a long time ago among other things. She's
very funny. People were constantly yelling out
requests in between songs. While tuning, both she
and Steve Forbert had a hard time staying in tune
for some reason, she remarked about how good it felt
to have too many songs to play them all and that she
remembered when she only had 10 originals. The new
setup at the Planting Fields is much better. The
new tent is shaped properly. The old one was too oblong
and didn't go back far enough. They have woodchips
on the ground under the tent which is a little strange
but I dug it. It was mellowest show I've seen in a long
time. The venue and the crowd were incredibly laid back,
it was unusual and strangely relaxing. Well, I'm not
proofreading now, I'm just too tired. Oh, Shawn did a
great cover of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic and
played a new tune live for the 1st time.
