Economic Data for Friday, July 7, 2000 Non-farm Payrolls for June = +11k (+206k) Unemployment Rate = 4.0% Average Hourly earnings = +0.4% or 3.6% yr/yr stats.bls.gov Total nonfarm payroll employment edged up by 11,000 to 131.6 million in June, seasonally adjusted. Private-sector employment rose by 206,000, following a decline in May. The unemployment rate was 4.0 percent in June, about the same as in May. Average hourly earnings increased by 5 cents over the month and by 3.6 percent over the year.
