If SSB and Joseph had just reaffirmed their buy rating or upgraded, the market collectively would sigh and go on. By downgrading based on vague numbers and going against the trend gives SSB and Joseph a lot of publicity (CNN time, articles etc.); and it is publicity that can be the lifeblood of the high wages these guys are making. The more famous you are, the more money you can get; ala Sharption,Shapiro,bAILEY, Cochran, The Worm Rodman, Jessie Ventura et al. Publicity, even bad publicity can often times be advantageous financially. Six to nine months from now, everyone will have forgotten about the prediction and life will go on.
