Eric,

If active participants ask me to reduce the number of posts on QCOM I file, I will.

Just the opposite, I implore that you continue as you've always been doing. I don't pretend to understand everything you write, but the balance of thought you rpesent (both pro and con) helps me make sense out of the muddle.

Thank you all for the kindness demonstrated to my somewhat unpleasant post on QCOM. I was half expecting to get flamed out for my rude first post but the mention of lawsuits & blackmail irked me.

As far as I understand the Gorilla status is based on the CDMA IP & not the chip sales and the whole issue may boil down to whether QCOM will receive significant royalties in WCDMA,if & when it becomes the de facto 3G standard. Last year's spectacular run (& the Gorilla moniker) was based implicitly on total ownership of all forms of CDMA. It might come down to a patent infringement lawsuit and the settlement thereof (hence the IDCC analogy). the waters are very muddy & a lot of spin doctoring is going on.

To me a Gorilla is something like pornography - know it when you see it - not something with a lot of riders on it.
Given all this uncertainty I feel it's appropriate to question the Gorilla status from an academic/objective standpoint and maintain the standards of this board.

I am not a short and am very interested in the discussions on this thread and it's a jungle out there ( meaning lots of bona fide Gorillas at different levels of maturity )

Once again thanks for the kindness.
Great thread,Great minds.
