(Paine Webber) Wireless Equipment: 2Q Preview

(Added 7/12/2000 12:17:57 PM)

Wireless industry growth and outlook should be positive
during Q2 reporting season although some companies are
managing company-specific operational issues that could
limit upside.

Believe seasonal patterns have resulted in a higher than
expected mix of phones purchased by new users than
replacement phones.  Since new owners typically buy low-end,
entry-level phones, this has resulted in a higher than
expected mix of low-end phones.

[Table showing their Q2FY00 EPS estimate for DMIC to
be $0.11/sh, vs consensus EPS estimate of $0.10/sh.]

[snip - stuff unrelated to DMIC]

DMIC remain concerned about the pricing pressures of the
Microwave Radio Industry, despite its leverage to the
acceleration in wireless infrastructure spending, have
more confidence in DMIC than PCOM which has been inconsistent
in its performance.  Believe both DMIC’s and PCOM ‘s
valuations appropriately reflect growth and risk dynamics of
their businesses.
