Karen -

I got the Inspiron 7500. It is their top of the line model and is their most powerful Notebook. The 5000 model is almost as powerful and is a little bit lighter. Both models come with a 3 year on-site service contract.

The DVD I got was an 8X. The faster DVD you get the better, as in the future many software companies will release their software on DVD. Also, I have found that movie quality is better on the faster DVD's, so I wouldn't get slower than a 6X.

If I can help on any other feature questions, please let me know.
