Q2 is also considered to be the slowest quarter. So a sequential gain of any kind would be abnormal and good, and a double digit % gain would be even more so.

Frank,

To be honest, for AMD, I think EPS will play a lesser role than revenue growth, both sequestial and YOY. Last quarter YOY rev growth was 73%; an improvement this quarter would mean AMD's ASP's are going up and it's gaining market share. That's what the market wants to hear. An increase in margins and the ROE would be the proverbial icing on the cake.

I know that everyone looks to the EPS but for tech stocks, in general, and AMD,in particular, I think rev growth is the key.

Comment: Prior to 99Q4, AMD achieved a high of $48.50 at the time of 97Q1 and 97Q2 positive earnings of $0.09 and $0.07 respectively...99Q4 and 2000Q1 earnings of $0.43 and $1.15 have resulted in a current price of $77. There is zero doubt from my perspective that a 3rd successive record breaking quarter at $1.30 or better will set fire to the price of AMD shares...particularly looking ahead to at least 2 more record breaking quarters in Q3 and Q4, possibly of $3.00 and $4.00 eps respectively...The market has not yet accepted such an outlook as within the realm of the possible or AMD would be tradine above $150 today...Just imagine the "reality shock" to the market place when AMD posts $1.30 or better in Q2...SSB's $100 AMD target will be history within 3 weeks of their hideous report, imho...Not finshed yet...Guess what, AMD has a shot at breaking the $2.00 barrier in Q2...but don't tell what's his face at SSB!!!

Agreed. It would be considered anemic for a stock with PE of 20. For a stock with PE near 60, it would be disaster waiting to happen.
