ECRI/FIBER report: Summary & Details:

Summary:

The recent release of the ECRI and FIBER indices of future inflation show that prices
ticked higher in June, but are continuing an easing trend on an annualized basis.

ECRI’s Future Inflation Gauge edged up marginally by 0.4% to 123.1 in June from a revised
level of 122.6 in May. The measure is just below its 11-year high of 124.8 which was
achieved in April

FIBER’s Leading Inflation Index rose at a similar pace of 0.3% to 102.9 in June, from its
102.6 May level. Over the previous twelve months, the
FIBER index is down 0.3%.

These reports indicate that, while the fundamental price pressures may have backed off
from their recent peaks, they are not yet to be ignored as a source of concern.

Analysis excerpt:

"..These results portray an economy that is moderating from its pace of a year ago, but still contains price pressures that could reassert themselves should it experience a sudden surge..."
